Americans Driving Less, But…
According to a survey conducted by Harris Interactive, during the past 6 months, 71% of US drivers took steps to change their driving habits.

The routes they took varied.
Most, 50%, drove less by taking fewer trips around town, 30% filled their gas tanks with less gasoline and 22% decided against driving vacations.
On average, drivers made 2.1 changes to their auto habits.
Of course, 29% made no changes in the way they drove.
Was the environment a motivator to change?
Very little.
Drivers who were “conscious about the environment” were slightly more likely to drive less than usual (58% vs. 50%), to increase their use of public transportation (14% vs. 11%) and to bicycle (11% vs. 8%) than drivers who weren’t.
